Proposed Action by the Commission
Landkreis Landshut, a district in Bavaria, has taken a significant step towards improving cycling conditions in the region. On April 30, 2025, the district administration launched a digital survey aimed at collecting valuable data to invest specifically in cycling infrastructure.
The survey, which takes approximately ten minutes to complete, is focused on making cycling in Landkreis Landshut more attractive and safer. It is part of broader efforts to make cycling a more significant contributor to health, climate protection, and the quality of life in cities and communities.
District Administrator Peter Dreier, along with various municipal officials and technical experts from the Landratsamt, is spearheading the planning and implementation of measures to improve cycling traffic. This collaborative process involves local government departments responsible for transportation, urban development, and public works, as well as planning specialists and stakeholders engaged in cycling infrastructure projects.
The survey is anonymous, and it aims to gather opinions, experiences, and suggestions for improving cycling infrastructure in Landkreis Landshut. The results will be used in concrete planning, including for new and improved cycling paths, safe parking facilities, and optimized signage.
Citizens are encouraged to participate actively, as those who use the cycling paths daily know them best. Landrat Peter Dreier emphasized the importance of this participation, stating that it would help in further improving the quality of life locally and promoting cycling sustainably.
Landkreis Landshut has already implemented numerous measures to improve cycling conditions, and the survey is one of many tools being used to continue this progress. The free cycling plan, published annually, shows all important cycling paths and infrastructure in the region. Additionally, the RADAR! reporting platform allows citizens to submit tips about defects or dangerous spots on cycling paths, helping the administration identify and fix problems.
Feedback from the RADAR! platform is incorporated into the further development of cycling planning, ensuring that the needs and concerns of the community are addressed. The free cycling plan and the RADAR! reporting platform are essential resources for improving cycling conditions and safety in Landkreis Landshut.
The 2025 edition of the cycling plan is available at the Tourist Information of the City of Landshut, the Tourism Office at the County Administration, and many municipalities in the county. Landkreis Landshut invites all citizens to take part in the survey and contribute to a safer, more attractive, and more sustainable cycling environment.
