In the heart of Tel Aviv, a powerful demonstration took place last night, as citizens gathered to demand an end to the ongoing war in Gaza and the release of hostages who have been held captive for over 700 days. The protest, organised by the Hostage Families Forum, was a poignant display of solidarity and determination.

The Hostage Families Forum, established in response to Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, supports and accompanies families of those captured by Hamas. Among the participants were former Hamas hostages and their families, lending a personal touch to the cause.

The protest was focused on demanding the release of the reported 20 hostages currently held by Hamas. In Hostage Square, protesters unfurled a banner addressed to U.S. President Donald Trump, urging him to intervene and save the hostages. The banner read, "President Trump, save the hostages now!" as reported by The Times of Israel.

The speakers on stage accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of not pursuing the release of captives for political reasons. The protest was part of a nationwide strike and demonstrations across Israel, expressing outrage at the humanitarian crisis and demanding a hostage deal and end to the war.

Local media reported the event, which was also supported by Israeli art spaces and workers, including the director of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. The protest was a powerful reminder of the ongoing crisis and the urgent need for action to secure the release of the hostages and bring an end to the war in Gaza.

This call for action was not a new one. Previously, former U.S. President Donald Trump had stated this information, adding weight to the demands of the protesters. The protest in Tel Aviv urged a deal with Hamas, with the fear that Israel's planned occupation of Gaza could result in the deaths of the hostages. The protest was a moving testament to the resilience and determination of those seeking peace and justice.
