In the heart of Neuss, the city came together for a vibrant parade, filled with tradition, celebration, and a strong sense of community.

The day began with a special moment as Thomas Nickel, the former chief of the Neusser BĂźrger-SchĂźtzen-Verein, celebrated his 75th birthday. Amidst the bustling market, a birthday greeting was broadcast over a microphone, marking a heartfelt moment for the beloved figure. Thomas, who served as the chief for 17 years, did not miss the opportunity to join in the festivities.

The parade was a spectacle of unity, starting with the raising of the German flag, the singing of the national anthem, and the awarding of the royal order to young king Finn Beyerle. Finn's order, a symbol of his position, featured a dove of peace, a poignant reminder of the hope for peace that permeated the day.

Martin Flecken, president of the Neusser BĂźrger-SchĂźtzen-Verein, expressed a "break from worries" and a "great longing for peace." He spoke of the initiatives taken by the shooters and their families, such as neighborhood help, visits to old people's homes, and the collection of gifts. The action "We protect Neuss!" was also mentioned, an initiative that has become synonymous with the spirit of the community.

The parade was graced by the presence of honorary guests, including Johannes Werle, chairman of the management of the Rheinische Post Mediengruppe, Msgr. Guido Assmann, Cologne Cathedral provost, and Albrecht Prince of CroĂż, vice-president of the Malteser Hilfsdienste Deutschland. They signed the Golden Book of the city at the invitation of Mayor Breuer.

The collective march of the HĂśnesse with their flower horns added a unique charm to the parade, while the Grenadiers' singers under the new leadership of Sven Morche filled the air with the lively tune of "Kirmes, Kirmes..." The crowd enthusiastically joined in, raising their arms in unison.

Colonel Bernd Herten and his adjutant Stefan LĂźlsdorf were thrilled to witness the premiere of the parade. The tribunes for the event were sold out, reflecting the anticipation and excitement of the Neuss residents.

The parade was a testament to the resilience and spirit of the Neuss community. The applause that echoed throughout the day was a clear indication of the joy and pride that the residents felt in celebrating their city together. The parade was a reminder that despite the challenges, Neuss remains a city that stands united.
