"PSG publicly criticizes France following serious injuries to players Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue"
Paris Saint-Germain Express Concern Over Injuries to Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have voiced their displeasure over the injuries sustained by Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue during international duty, with both players set to miss crucial fixtures, including a Champions League showdown against Barcelona on October 1.
Dembele, who was being considered as a potential Ballon d'Or contender, suffered a hamstring injury during France's clash with Ukraine. The injury is in a different thigh compared to his previous injury in Toulouse, and he is expected to be sidelined for six weeks. Doue, on the other hand, is expected to be out for around four weeks due to a calf strain also sustained during the same match.
PSG have accused the French Football Federation (FFF) of ignoring medical warnings regarding the fitness and fatigue of both players. The situation has been labeled "serious and avoidable" by the club, and they have demanded big changes to how players are managed between club and country.
The person held responsible for the severe and avoidable injuries is reportedly the French national team coach, Didier Deschamps, who insisted on fielding Dembele despite warnings from PSG. The club has expressed strong anger towards Deschamps for this decision.
Didier Deschamps, however, defended his decision to play Dembele, claiming he was fit enough to play. Despite this, PSG insist on documented and reciprocal exchanges between team doctors to protect players' careers. They have also stated that the French national team's medical staff failed to communicate with the club's medical staff despite being given detailed information about the players' conditions before training began.
PSG have reaffirmed their commitment to the French national team, but are demanding the urgent creation of a new medical coordination protocol between clubs and the national team to prevent such incidents in the future. The current lack of coordination, they argue, is putting players' careers at risk.
The injuries to Dembele and Doue come at a crucial point in the season for PSG, who are currently the champions of Ligue 1. The club will undoubtedly be hoping for a swift recovery for their injured stars.
