Quebec Leverage: A Position of Power in Canada

In the heart of Quebec, a series of events are unfolding, celebrating the rich culture and heritage of Francophonie. The fourth Grand Concert of Francophonie is currently underway, adding to the city's already impressive roster of Francophone events.

One of the most notable events in this celebration is the revival of the SuperFrancoFĂȘte, a tourist showcase that has reached an astounding 10 million viewers in just four years. Sylvain Parent-BĂ©dard, a prominent figure in promoting Francophone culture, made a dream come true by bringing back the SuperFrancoFĂȘte in August 2022.

The SuperFrancoFĂȘte, first held in 1974, has played a significant role in introducing Quebecers to the diverse beauty of Francophonie. Its concerts are broadcast to all corners of Francophonie, contributing to the radiance of Quebec and fostering the discoverability of a Quebec song.

In recognition of his efforts, Sylvain Parent-Bédard is being honoured for his work in promoting Francophone culture. Two former Quebec delegates general in Paris and representatives for Francophonie have expressed their desire to acknowledge his work.

Meanwhile, in Montreal's Latin Quarter, a House of Song and Music is soon to be realized, thanks to cultural figures Monique Giroux and Luc Plamondon. This magical and interactive space will present the past, present, and future of song and music in the same place.

Quebec's leadership in Francophonie is evident not only in its artistic events but also in the actions of the Center for Francophonie of the Americas. This institution concretizes Quebec's leadership in Francophonie in the Americas, demonstrating the province's commitment to preserving and promoting the French language and culture.

Other Francophonie festivals, such as the Francos de Montreal, CINEMANIA, Festival international de la Poésie de Trois-RiviÚres, Festivals de la chanson de Granby, Petite-Vallée, Tadoussac, Gaspésie, also deserve significant funding from different levels of government. These events play a crucial role in showcasing Quebec's artistic creativity and contributing to the vibrant Francophone culture.

As we celebrate the origins of Francophonie, its impact, and pay tribute to its initiator, it's clear that Quebec is leading the way in preserving and promoting Francophone culture. The SuperFrancoFĂȘte, the House of Song and Music, and other Francophonie festivals are testament to this commitment.
