Race notably progressing past iconic landmarks of Ho Chi Minh City during a marathon event
Techcombank HCM City International Marathon Returns for Its Eighth Edition
The Techcombank HCM City International Marathon is set to make a triumphant return from December 5-7, marking its eighth edition in the vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh. This year, the event is jointly organized by Sunrise Events, city authorities, and the federation, with Techcombank providing strategic sponsorship.
The marathon, a significant sports-tourism event, is committed to becoming one of the region's hallmark sports events while celebrating and sharing Vietnam's unique identity in every athlete's journey. The core message, 'Run for a Greater Việt Nam,' emphasizes physical training, mental resilience, and human connection.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is the main organizer of the marathon this year. The event is part of the HCM City River Festival and aims to promote a healthy and active lifestyle in the city, as well as position HCM City as an attractive international destination for regional sporting events.
The marathon offers four routes: 42km, 21km, 10km, and 5km, passing through 17 iconic landmarks in the city. In addition to the primary races, the organizers will host the Marathon Village and KIDS RUN at The Global City, a local new landmark centre.
The Mass Participation World Conference (MPW) will be held on December 4-5 as part of the lead-up to the Techcombank HCM City International Marathon. The conference aims to pave the way for international cooperation and growth in sports tourism. The MPW conference will gather leading experts, organizers, and industry representatives to discuss trends and explore solutions for the sustainable development of mass participation sports.
Techcombank is eager to make the marathon a new tourism product that diversifies experiences and elevates the city's global image in sports tourism. Over 18,000 athletes from Vietnam and abroad are expected to participate, making it a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship and cultural exchange.
Rob Zamacona, SEV General Manager, reiterates the commitment to maintaining international standards for the marathon. The Techcombank HCM City International Marathon is not just a race; it's a testament to the city's spirit, a call to run for a greater Vietnam, and a beacon attracting international visitors and inspiring the community.
