Rail Baltica plans to construct a maintenance facility
The Iecava infrastructure maintenance point, located between Misa and the Lithuanian border, is currently the hub of activity for the Rail Baltica main track construction. This 16-hectare area is serving as a strategic logistics base for the ERB Rail Team, a joint venture of ERB, a Baltic construction company, who are working on the southern section of the Rail Baltica mainline.
Preparatory work for the construction of this section is well underway. Deforestation work has been completed, and the removal of topsoil has begun at the site. The creation of embankments has started, and a foundation structure for a temporary office has been prepared.
16 office modules have been delivered to the site and are currently being installed. These modules will provide temporary office space for the ERB Rail Team during the construction process.
The construction of the main track is ongoing, with the removal of stumps and the creation of load-bearing structures already underway. The unexploded ordnance search and neutralisation work has also been completed in the area.
The Iecava infrastructure maintenance point will play a crucial role in the construction of the Rail Baltica main track, providing a base for logistics and operations. The progress at the site is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the ERB Rail Team, moving one step closer to the completion of this significant project.
