Rail service in Germany directly leads to the Baltic Sea coastline

Discover a unique railway adventure as Euro-Express Sonderzüge GmbH & Co. KG, one of Europe's largest special train operators, invites you to embark on the Baltic Express. This special train journey offers a nostalgic experience with GDR-era train cars from the 70s and 80s, taking passengers from Leipzig to the picturesque Baltic seaside resort of Warnemünde.

Passengers can enjoy a leisurely 6-hour exploration of Warnemünde, with its sandy beaches, beach promenade, and maritime restaurants. For those who wish to unwind during the journey, a bistro car is available, offering small snacks and cold drinks while you watch the passing landscape.

The organiser aims to make this journey more than just a 'train ride', branding it as a "Railway experience". To enhance the experience, a historic electric locomotive pulls the train, adding to the authenticity of the journey.

The Baltic Express is not just a one-time event. It will resume service next year, offering multiple departures for you to choose from. The round trip prices for adults start at 89 euros, and for children at 49 euros, depending on the station of departure. Children under 5 years travel free of charge but do not have a claim to their own seat.

Reduced rates apply for children between 5 and 15 years. The journey begins early in the morning at around 6:15 AM in Leipzig. The train journey includes stops at Halle (Saale) and Magdeburg, among others. The exact departure times will be communicated to passengers by the organiser.

For those who appreciate the Baltic and the nostalgic charm of past travel traditions from the GDR era, the Baltic Express is a must-do. The company aims to appeal to these travellers, offering other extraordinary rail experiences, such as city tours with historic trains or special events like a gin tasting in the MITROPA dining car.

Over 100 passengers have already registered for the June 6, 2026 trip, as announced by the organiser on Facebook. Don't miss out on this opportunity to step back in time and experience the charm of the past on the Baltic Express.
