A traffic accident on the A2 towards Hannover at the exit Helmstedt-West has caused ongoing congestion since early morning. The accident, which occurred on July 25, 2023, at 23:20, involved two articulated trucks and resulted in significant damage to the roadway, covering an area of approximately 600 square meters.

Just before the accident, a 45-year-old truck driver was driving one truck, and a 22-year-old truck driver was driving another truck, both on the A2 towards Hannover. The collision occurred when a car driving to the left of the 45-year-old's truck cut off its path, causing the 22-year-old's truck to hit the truck in front, driven by the 45-year-old.
