New Ultra-Rapid EV Charging Bays Installed in Blackburn

Two new ultra-rapid EV charging bays have been installed in Blackburn, marking a significant step towards supporting the growing number of electric vehicles (EVs) on the roads. The charging bays, operated by Be.EV, were installed at a cost of £223,000 and are located ten minutes from the M65, a busy corridor with over 69,000 vehicles daily.

Each charging bay is a 150kW Kempower ultra-rapid charging bay, capable of providing up to 80% of a charge in just 20 minutes. This makes them an ideal solution for local residents and drivers on longer journeys, helping to reduce the anxiety often associated with running out of battery power.

AAZZ Investments, the site owners, chose to work with Be.EV, an experienced partner, to advise them on getting the right chargers and to make the process as simple as possible. A spokesperson from AAAZ Investments expressed that EV charging has become a priority for them as more electric vehicles are hitting the road. They aim to have EV charging at their sites before EVs become the most common vehicle on the road.

The installation of these charging bays is expected to increase rental yield for AAAZ Investments by around £4,000 annually. This investment in sustainable transport infrastructure is a welcome addition to Blackburn and aligns with the vision of Lancashire County Council, which projects that more than 6,600 chargepoints will be needed to support 240,000 EVs on its roads by 2030.

The fourth annual CiTTi Awards, an unmissable event for the UK's transportation sector, will celebrate achievements and innovations in sustainable transport planning on 25 November 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. It is likely that the installation of these charging bays in Blackburn will be recognised as a significant contribution to the UK's transition to a greener transport future.
