Record-breaking 40-ball century in T20 cricket: New Zealand ace matches West Indies legend's milestone with a century in 40 balls.

Tim Seifert Equals Andre Russell's Record with 40-Ball Century in CPL

In a thrilling match between the St Lucia Kings and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on August 31, 2025, Tim Seifert scored an unbeaten 125 runs off 53 balls, achieving a 40-ball hundred. This incredible feat equalled the record for the fastest CPL century set by Andre Russell in 2018.

Seifert's blistering innings started early, as he reached his fifty in just 18 balls. He stitched together a 64-run stand with Ackeem Auguste, who scored 19 in 15 balls, providing valuable support.

The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, led by Shakib Al Hasan's 61 in 26 balls and Amir Jangoo's 56 in 43 balls, posted a formidable total of 204-4 at Gros Islet. The St Lucia Kings, however, lost opener Johnson Charles in the third over, and no other player managed to cross 25 runs.

Despite this, Seifert's efforts were enough to propel his team to second place in the points table. His 40-ball ton is joint-fastest in CPL history, joining the record set by Andre Russell.

The table of fastest CPL hundreds includes notable names such as Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran, Rahkeem Cornwall, Shimron Hetmyer, Alex Hales, Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Sharmarh Brooks, and Colin Munro. Seifert's achievement is a testament to his exceptional talent and a memorable moment in CPL history.

This record-breaking performance by Tim Seifert is sure to be a talking point in the cricket world, as he continues to make his mark in the Caribbean Premier League.
