Record-breaking Mega Millions draw edges closer to fifth-largest payout

The Mega Millions lottery is creating a buzz, with the current jackpot reaching an astounding $1.15bn. This makes it the fifth-largest jackpot in the lottery's history and presents a unique opportunity to end the year as a billionaire.

The Mega Millions Consortium, the organisation behind the lottery, has announced significant changes coming to the game. Starting from the new year, Megaplier multipliers will be applied to non-jackpot wins, adding an extra layer of excitement to every game.

To play, the price of the base Mega Millions ticket will increase to $5, marking a near 300% jump in pricing. Despite this, the anticipation and potential rewards have not diminished.

The draw, which is scheduled for later tonight, offers more than just the jackpot. Over 100 tickets have come close to winning the jackpot, getting five of the six balls right. Should the jackpot not be won tonight, another chance to win a millionaire amount would be on Tuesday, January 31.

If you're fortunate enough to win the jackpot, you'll have the choice between annuity payments or a lump sum of $516m net after tax and state and federal cuts. The majority of Mega Millions players prefer the lump sum option.

Joshua Johnston, the Lead Director for the Mega Millions Consortium, has urged players not to miss checking their tickets for tonight's draw. He also announced that the Megaplier multiplier values will start at 2x, 3x, 4x, and 5x, with a 10x multiplier planned for early April.

The Mega Millions draw is more than just a lottery; it's a chance to change your life and potentially close the year as a billionaire. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity. Good luck!
