Red Bulls' revival: Celebrations in the red haze

In a thrilling race at the 2025 Italian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen of Red Bull claimed victory at the iconic Monza circuit, ending a 112-day winless streak.

The Dutch driver started the race from pole position and faced stiff competition from Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri of McLaren. Verstappen reclaimed the lead from Norris in the fifth lap of the race, and despite Norris's efforts, he was unable to counter Verstappen's move in the chicane, allowing the Red Bull driver to build a comfortable lead.

Meanwhile, George Russell of Mercedes started the race in fifth place but managed to climb up the ranks, eventually finishing in fourth. However, Lewis Hamilton, driving for Ferrari, could not match the pace of the top three and ended the race in sixth place, much to the disappointment of the tifosi.

Helmut Marko, Red Bull's motorsport advisor, emphasized the team's joy after the win, while Mark Mateschitz, Verstappen's boss, was present for Red Bull's 66th triumph.

McLaren, on the other hand, should be warned about potential issues with their pit stops, as Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished second and third, respectively, 20 seconds behind Verstappen. Piastri was, however, upset after being instructed to let Norris pass in the final phase of the race, costing him three points.

In the World Championship standings, Norris is in second place, 31 points behind Piastri, while Verstappen is currently 94 points behind Piastri.

Ferrari went home empty-handed from the race, with Charles Leclerc finishing in fourth place. Lewis Hamilton started the race from tenth position due to a penalty but arrived at the track with a motorcycle in the Italian national colours, showing his support for the Ferrari team.

Interestingly, in the first practice session of the race, Lewis Hamilton, driving for Ferrari, set the fastest time with a time of 1:20.117, but Ferrari's performance was not highlighted in the provided results. Verstappen's new floor showed clear effects in the race, contributing to his success.

The Red Bull team reacted to the possible penalty issued for Verstappen's move on Norris at the start of the race, with Verstappen himself laughing, suggesting it was due to a slow pit stop.

Despite the win, Verstappen has little chance of winning his fifth consecutive title, but can catch up in races on fast tracks. The Formula 1 season continues with the next race in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium.
