Refurbished Workspace Transformation

The Old Chancery in Hanau is set for a transformation, with maintenance and renewal work planned on both the ground and upper floors. This comes after the successful "pop-up gastronomy" event, "Economy in the Courtyard," held in September 2020, which demonstrated the potential for events, entertainment, and cultural activities at the Old Chancery.

The "Economy in the Courtyard" event featured a variety of activities that attracted visitors, including exhibitions, live music, open-air cinema, DJs, special markets, and "complicity meetings." It was a resounding success, showcasing the versatility of the Old Chancery as a venue and contributing to the reputation of the Old Chancery as a culturally significant location.

The front courtyard and part of the building will continue to be used, while a kitchen for a restaurant and a bar for exchange, co-working, and creativity will be installed. Sanitary facilities and various electrical installations will also be renovated as part of the sustainable renovation of the building, which will remain permanently in public hands.

The "Economy in the Courtyard" event demonstrated the potential for future events and activities at the Old Chancery, making it an example of the possibilities for Hanau at the Old Chancery location. The responsible organisation for the further development and operation of the building at the old KanzleigelΓ€nde in Hanau after its first "pop-up gastronomic" project in September 2020 has yet to be identified.

Despite being vacant for several years, the building is in good overall condition. The upcoming renovations aim to breathe new life into the historic site, fostering a culturally significant neighbourhood that will continue to attract visitors and inspire creativity. The Old Chancery's transformation is an exciting development for Hanau, showcasing the potential for revitalising historic sites and promoting cultural activities in the city.
