Reinforced Hospital Leadership Takes Charge at Alaska Regional Hospital with the Appointment of a New CEO
New Leadership at Alaska Regional Hospital
Alaska Regional Hospital has announced a new administration team, with several seasoned professionals taking on key roles.
Mark Roberts, who began his career as a radiologic technologist, has been appointed as the new CEO of the hospital. Roberts brings over a decade of experience with HCA Healthcare to his new position, having previously served as COO at Corpus Christi Medical Center in Texas.
Roberts will be joined by Paul Durkee, who has been appointed as the new CFO of Alaska Regional Hospital. Durkee holds bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from Weber State University and has extensive experience in managing supply chain programs at nineteen hospitals across five states. Prior to his appointment at Alaska Regional Hospital, Durkee served as CFO of HCA Healthcare's supply chain and performance improvement organization HealthTrust.
Laura Magstadt, who holds a master's degree in nursing, an MBA in healthcare management, and a PhD in leadership and organizational strategy, has been promoted to Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Magstadt has more than twenty years of nursing leadership experience and was previously involved in nursing, operations, and patient care services. In February, she was appointed as Assistant CNO.
Todd Gilbert, an American Nurses Credentialing Center board certified nurse executive, has also joined the hospital. Gilbert holds a master's degree in nursing and an MBA and has extensive leadership experience in emergency services and acute inpatient care since 2012. He was appointed as Assistant CNO.
Dr. Serene Perkins, the new Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Alaska Regional Hospital, will begin her tenure in June. Perkins, who has published dozens of peer-reviewed studies, research activities, and lectures in the field of liver treatment and surgical oncology, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Prior to her appointment at Alaska Regional Hospital, Perkins held CMO roles in Oregon and Florida and worked in emergency medicine. She has led quality and safety initiatives, introduced value-based care models, and supported strategic growth areas in her previous roles.
With this new leadership team in place, Alaska Regional Hospital is well-positioned to continue providing high-quality care to the community.
