Relishing Tranquility at the Evening Bazaar

In a vibrant display of unity and diversity, the Holy Cross campus came alive with two significant events in February 2025. The 24th annual Noche Latina, hosted by the Latin American Student Organization (LASO), took centre stage at Mechanics Hall in Worcester, while the Environmental Night Market, organised by Peace of Mind, was held in the Loyola Ballroom on campus.

Noche Latina 2024, themed "The Unfolding Family Tree: Las Fuentes del Pasado Alimentando Nuestras Raíces," was a celebration of Latin American heritage. The event featured two captivating performances from Latinidad and Kxplosion, showcased at the Night Market.

The Night Market, held on February 23rd, was a celebration of traditions and cultures from around the world. Eight student organisations participated, including the Black Student Union, Movimiento Estudiantil Progressive Action, Pinoys of Worcester, Caribbean African Student Assembly, LASO, PRIDE, Developing and Educating South Asian Ideologies, Advocating Student Interest in Asia, and the French Department. Each organisation had a booth where members of the Holy Cross community could visit and try some of the cuisine they enjoy. ASIA served egg rolls and jelly straws, DESI offered mango juice and chips, LASO provided Mexican and Brazilian candy, and MEPA served Fruta Picada.

The Night Market was more than just a food festival. It was a demonstration of Peace of Mind's goal to spread cultural awareness and appreciation on the Holy Cross campus. The event was made possible by the hard work and dedication of the Peace of Mind e-board and the Peace of Mind OSI liaison.

Meanwhile, at Clark Hall, Yarelis Lorenzo Febus and Keira Burke transformed their dorm into a warm and cozy oasis for the "Peep My Crib: Clark Hall" event. The evening included activities such as card games, domino lessons, origami tutorials, friendship bracelet making, and a polaroid table display with trivia, all organised by various student groups.

On a separate note, the Men's Basketball Winter Homecoming game saw the audience at the Hart Center Arena dressed in a sea of purple. The team put up an amazing performance against the Boston University Terriers on February 8, 2025.
