The German national football team will face Northern Ireland in their second World Cup qualifier, with the match set to take place in Cologne on Sunday at 20:45 CET. The game will be broadcast on RTL.

This home game marks the first in the World Cup season for coach Julian Nagelsmann's team, following Germany's disappointing 0:2 loss against Slovakia in their opening match on Thursday in Bratislava.

The Cologne Arena will be buzzing with excitement, as around 40,000 tickets have already been sold, with only a few remaining for categories 3 and 4 (€50 - €72.15). Tickets for categories 1 and 2 (€95 - €127.65) are still available on the DFB website.

In a pre-match ceremony, Mats Hummels will be honoured by the DFB for his international career. After the game, Florian Wirtz will be awarded for winning the Footballer of the Year award by the journalists.

The remaining two away matches in the World Cup qualifiers will take place on October 13 in Belfast against Northern Ireland and on November 14 in Luxembourg. If Germany qualifies directly for the 2026 World Cup, another test match has been scheduled for May 31 in Mainz against Finland.

Around 2,300 Northern Ireland fans will be supporting their team in the Cologne Arena. The second match of Germany's national football team in the World Cup qualifiers is against Northern Ireland.

If Germany qualifies as group winners for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, test matches have already been scheduled for March 30 in Stuttgart against the Ivory Coast. The team will also play at home again on October 10 in Sinsheim against Luxembourg, following the game in Cologne.

On November 17, the German team will play at home against Slovakia in Leipzig. This promises to be an exciting World Cup qualifying campaign for the German national team, with high hopes for a strong comeback after their opening loss.
