Rabbi Leo Dee Remarries in Efrat, Israel

Rabbi Leo Dee, 53, and Aliza Teplitsky, 43, exchanged vows in a moving ceremony held in Efrat, Israel on Sunday night. The event was attended by friends, family, and notable figures from the Jewish community.

Rabbi Dee, who has become an internationally recognised figure of faith and resilience since the tragic loss of his wife Lucy and their daughters Maia (20) and Rina (15) in April 2023, found solace in Aliza. The couple has been residing in Efrat since their wedding.

Aliza, originally from Toronto, has a rich history in the Jewish community. She was active in Bnei Akiva and later served as the director of programs for the movement in North America, based in New York. Since her immigration to Israel in 2005, she has worked on the Jerusalem light rail project, designed exhibitions at the Israel Museum, and contributed to the Israeli tourism industry. Today, she manages a customer service team at a Tel Aviv hi-tech company.

The chuppah (ceremony) was officiated by Efrat's Rabbis Shlomo Kimchi and Yair Bienstock, with musical accompaniment by Rabbi Shlomo Katz. IDF Chief Cantor Shai Abramson participated in the ceremony, dedicating a moving song to the couple.

Dee's daughters Keren and Tali delivered heartfelt words about their late mother, Lucy, during the ceremony. Tali, one of Dee's daughters, also spoke at the event.

The ceremony included expressions of support for Rabbi Dee's decision to remarry Aliza. Rabbi Dee and Aliza will continue to live in Efrat together with Dee's three surviving children - Keren, Tali, and Yehuda.

Rabbi Dee, known for his acclaimed books on faith, prayer, grief, and healing, has authored three books. His first book, "Transforming the World: The Jewish Impact on Modernity," was a significant success.

This joyous occasion marks a new chapter in Rabbi Dee's life, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the grief he has faced. The Jewish community continues to rally around him, providing support and love as he embarks on this new journey.
