In a recent kitchen transformation, the author of this post was inspired by a simple teapot to give their pantry a vibrant makeover. The star of the show is a 16-inch deep wire shelf system from ClosetMaid, which brings a touch of modernity to the space.
Before the makeover, the pantry had four fixed wood shelves. Now, with the installation of ClosetMaid wire shelves and shelf track, the pantry is more versatile and accommodating. The author expresses their gratitude to ClosetMaid for inspiring this transformation.
The author took everything out of the pantry and set it on the counters, giving them a chance to declutter and donate food items that were still good but not needed. They also got rid of trash, expired food, and food that the family won't eat.
The new pantry organisation strategy is thoughtfully planned. Bulky items are placed on the top shelf, while sauces and boxed mixes find their home on the fourth shelf. Cereal boxes, chips, and tall jars are stored on the third shelf, and white baskets occupy the second shelf. Cans are neatly arranged on the bottom shelf.
To optimise storage further, the author installed a magnetic strip to store cookie cutters and bought a wall-mounted battery organizer. They also recommend installing a wire shelf on the pantry door for additional storage. If the trash can and recycle bin are in the pantry, the author suggests adding more vertical shelves for trash.
