Request for a school admission pass
In a significant step towards digitalizing administrative services, both the cities of Landshut and Solingen in Germany are now offering online applications for student transportation. This service is available to eligible students residing in Landshut and attending grades 1 to 10.
The online application process can be found at https://schulweg.our website, and it is a straightforward process, divided into three simple steps. To begin, users need to create an account in "myVIA". Once the account is confirmed via email during registration, they can proceed with the application.
The application process includes adding children and legal guardians, and for students with disabilities, the application can be submitted online with the attachment of a disability ID card or medical certificate. The new system guides users step-by-step through the application process, making it easy and accessible for all.
The current status of the application can be checked in the portal under "My Applications". If an application is rejected, a rejection notice will still be sent in writing. However, tickets, including digital ones like the Germany ticket, will be sent by email.
In 2025, both cities plan to further advance their digitization process, with new offers for student transportation applications becoming available online. Solingen, described as a "model city for digitization", is already investing in citizen-oriented digital services, including this offering.
It's worth noting that around 2,000 applications can be processed online annually. An application is required for each new school year, as well as in case of a school change or move, with the basic data stored in the account for minimal resubmission effort.
Cost coverage is granted if the school route is more than two kilometers to the primary school and more than three kilometers to further schools. The application includes both the application for tickets and transportation services.

Landshut is also advancing the digitalization of administrative services, joining Solingen in this modern approach to streamlining public services for its citizens. This move is expected to make the application process more efficient and convenient for all involved.
