Rescue squad evacuates ailing hunter in Nurbinsk
On May 8, 20XX, two separate hunting incidents occurred in the regions of Ménedëk and the Kuuttu River, both near Nyurba, in Yakutia. The first incident involved a hunting party in the Ménedëk area, while the second incident occurred in the Kuuttu River.
In the Ménedëk incident, search and rescue teams from the Nürbinsky PSO rescue team of the Yakutia Rescue Service evacuated a sick person, located 10 kilometers from Nyurba. The rescuers managed to cross the Kuuttu River in a boat to reach the individual.
Meanwhile, in the Kuuttu River incident, the hunters requested help via the 112 channel after managing to reach the shore. The Nürbinsky PSO rescue team spent the entire night trying to reach the victims, but the heavy ice drift on the Kuuttu River and ice jams on the Vilyuy River made it impossible for them to cross using all-terrain vehicles. Instead, they crossed in a boat and walked to the sick person's location.
Unfortunately, by 10:55 am on May 9, a message was received from the search team that the victims had been found, but it was too late. The victims had frozen to death in the Kuuttu river mouth. The local emergency rescue service and water rescue teams were the ones who found the bodies.
The incidents serve as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by fragile and dangerous ice conditions on rivers. The Yakutia Rescue Service urges all residents to exercise caution when going hunting, emphasizing the importance of considering health, weather conditions, and the safety of the route.
The Yakutia Rescue Service continues to work diligently to ensure the safety of its residents, and our thoughts are with the families affected by these tragic incidents.
