Man Arrested for Living in Condominium Crawl Space

A 40-year-old man named Beniamin Bucur was arrested in Oregon on Wednesday following a suspicious circumstance investigation at a condominium complex in Clackamas County near Happy Valley.

According to reports, a witness saw Bucur parking his car and walking to the back of a building in the complex at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. The witness also noticed the door to the crawl space was open and light was coming from inside.

Upon arrival, officials found the door to the crawl space damaged and locked, with an extension cord running through a vent. When the keys the owner gave deputies did not unlock the door, officials breached the door and found Bucur inside.

A pipe with white residue found at the scene tested positive for methamphetamine. Bucur was charged with first-degree burglary and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

The owner of the complex stated that nobody was supposed to be in the crawl space and had heard strange noises coming from it before. The crawl space where Bucur was found had been improved with a bed, lights, chargers, televisions, and electronics.

Bucur's preliminary hearing took place on Thursday, but it remains unclear whether he has an attorney. His bail was set to $75,000.

It is important to note that this incident occurred separately from the police arrest of a man in connection with stabbings of homeless people in New York City. ICE launched an immigration enforcement operation in Boston, but this information is unrelated to the arrest of Beniamin Bucur in Oregon.

No further information was provided about the nature of Bucur's presence in the crawl space or any potential charges against him. The lawyer of Beniamin Bucur is not publicly disclosed at this time. Bucur was transported to the Clackamas County Jail and booked on the charges.
