Fire in Böblingen's Lauchstraße: Operations Successfully Controlled
A fire that broke out in a residential and commercial building in Böblingen's Lauchstraße on Tuesday morning has been successfully controlled, according to the Fire Department.
The fire department received an emergency call at 10:00 a.m., reporting smoke coming from the basement of the multi-story building. A total of 50 personnel were on site to manage the situation.
Operations leader Daniel Rieß was in charge of the operation and rescue. Targeted intervention was used to control the fire, and by around 3:00 p.m., the fire in the basement was brought under control. However, the building's ventilation took longer to be controlled.
Two people were injured and ten other persons were affected as a result of the fire. The police began investigating the cause of the fire at the same time the building was handed over to them for investigation at around 3:00 p.m. The police are conducting the investigation, and no further information about the operations leader who took over the execution of the rescue operation has been provided.
Mayor Dr. Stefan Belz and public order office head Gisa Gaietto visited the site during the extinguishing operations. The status of the building's habitability or accommodation of residents was not mentioned in the report.
The DRK local association Böblingen and the municipal public order office assisted in the situation, but no new information about their involvement was provided. People from a restaurant, a doctor's office, and apartments were able to evacuate on their own. Others from apartments had to be rescued using two turntable ladders due to their blocked escape route.
