Residential Building Fire: Injuries Reported - Firefighters Struggle to Contain Blaze for Hours
In the quiet town of FĂźrstenfeldbruck, Germany, an unexpected incident occurred on Friday evening. At 21:16, a fire alarm was triggered in a top-floor apartment on Augsburger Street in Grobenzell.
The fire, which spread to a residential and commercial building, prompted an immediate response from local fire departments and emergency services. A total of 73 firefighters, along with the district fire inspection, were dispatched to the scene. Fire departments from Puchheim-Bahnhof, Olching, and FĂźrstenfeldbruck, as well as the county's breathing apparatus vehicle from FĂźrstenfeldbruck, provided support to fight the fire.
Two turntable ladders were employed, one for illuminating the fire site and the other for firefighters to combat the flames. Due to the fire's location, the road to Olching or Munich had to be completely closed, and motorists were advised to detour around the area.
The resident of the affected apartment was lightly injured and transported to the hospital by ambulance. The apartment, unfortunately, is currently uninhabitable.
The firefighters had to open the roof from both the inside and outside under breathing protection to reach all hotspots. The siren went off late on Friday evening, which is standard at the weekend for such an alert with potential danger to people.
The fire was under control after about 30 minutes, but extensive follow-up work took another three hours. The extinguishing work is likely to take some time.
Several police patrol cars, two ambulances, a doctor, and the emergency medical service coordinator were present at the scene to ensure the safety of the public. The residents of the multi-family house affected by the fire found accommodation with acquaintances for the night.
The police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire, and no further information has been provided at this time. The residents of Grobenzell and the wider FĂźrstenfeldbruck community are encouraged to follow updates from local authorities.
