Revamped 2026 Kia Stonic SUV unveiled, scheduled to debut towards late 2025
The much-anticipated Kia Stonic 2026 is set to hit Australian roads in the fourth quarter of 2025, boasting a host of updates and innovative features. The new model is produced by the Hyundai-Kia Motor Company consortium.
One of the key highlights of the 2026 Stonic is the introduction of mild-hybrid technology. Australian models will see a 48-volt mild-hybrid version of the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine for the first time, producing 85kW/200Nm. This technology is expected to cut fuel use by up to five per cent due to its ability to switch the engine off while coasting.
The 2026 Stonic will also feature major styling and interior updates, aligning with Kia's latest design language, similar to the Sportage mid-size SUV. The new design includes redesigned bumpers and wheels, as well as new front and rear LED lighting units.
In terms of safety, the 2026 Stonic comes equipped with a range of advanced features. Braking for the blind-spot monitoring system is a new feature, as is safe exit warning. Navigation-based adaptive cruise control and highway driving assistance technology are also included, ensuring a safer driving experience.
The interior of the 2026 Stonic has been revamped with a new centre console, steering wheel, and gear shifter designs, and an electronic handbrake. The touch panel can switch between climate control and media, similar to the EV6 and Sorento. USB-C ports have replaced the former USB-A units, ensuring compatibility with the latest devices.
For added convenience, a wireless charger is now available, and two new color options, 'Adventurous Green' and 'Yacht Blue', have been added to the range. The infotainment system does not run the latest Kia software, but it will feature live services and a digital key system. The dashboard boasts twin 12.3-inch displays.
Lastly, the powertrains in the 2026 Stonic remain the same, but mild-hybrid drivetrains will be introduced in Australia for the first time. The 2026 Kia Stonic promises to be a significant upgrade, offering improved fuel efficiency, safety features, and a sleek, modern design.
