Revised city library initiative unveiled
The Giessen City Library is gearing up for an exciting autumn season, with a variety of events planned for October and November. From crime-solving children's series to literary presentations and live music performances, there's something for everyone.
On October 24, the library will celebrate "Day of Libraries" with Sacha Gutzeit's children's crime series "The City-Country-Fluss Detectives - The Night of the Phantom". This promises to be an entertaining event for young and old alike.
For those who prefer a touch of the mysterious, the library has two true-crime novel presentations lined up. Erwin MΓΌller's "Death Transit - The Stipbach Valley Murder Case", based on a real, unsolved criminal case from 1981, will be presented on November 20th. A week earlier, on November 13th, the same author will delve into the case, discussing its intricacies and the real-life impact it had. Registration may be required for some events, and the venue is the Giessen City Library unless otherwise communicated. Admission is free unless otherwise specified.
Literature enthusiasts won't want to miss the presentation of Colm TΓ³ibΓn's "The Magician" on October 30. This fictional biography of the German Nobel laureate Thomas Mann, published in 2021, will be presented in the town hall hall of the city library. The novel, translated by Lothar Quinckenstein, won the European Union Literature Prize in 2015.
Music lovers should mark their calendars for November 6th, when Tess Wiley, a native Texan singer-songwriter, will perform at the city library as part of the "Library's Stage" event series. Her latest release, "Femme Sole", is a powerful EP that blends singer-songwriter, folk, pop, and country styles. Tess will be accompanied by her guitarist Tim Potzas.
The city library will also host events as part of the "local.regional" and "Library's Stage" series, ensuring a diverse and engaging programme for the coming months.
Tickets for the Giessen Crime Festival events, including "The Magician", are available from September 14th via their website. Don't miss out on these exciting events at the Giessen City Library!
