In the world of gaming, remakes are a delicate balance between staying true to the original and updating for modern audiences. The remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta, released on 28th August 2025, has managed to strike this balance beautifully.

Developed by a new team founded by Konami in 2020, specifically for this project and future franchise entries, the remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta was published by Konami and utilised Unreal Engine 5. The team behind the remake faced challenges, such as porting source code and assets to a new engine, but managed to recreate the game accurately with the new toolset, using an off-the-shelf toolset, Delta, which handles like the original PlayStation 2 game.

Set in the 1960s, the third Metal Gear Solid game established the narrative arc for Big Boss, a key figure in the original Metal Gear games. In this game, radars that showed enemy positions were replaced by figuring out the best camouflage, and food replenished stamina rather than health. The game is renowned for its challenging stealth mechanics and some of the best boss fights in gaming, with The End being a favourite among players.

This remake manages to maintain the original game's elements while offering modern improvements. For instance, the control scheme has been updated for a more modern feel. The game's visuals have also been enhanced, providing a more immersive experience for players.

One of the most notable changes in the remake is the return of David Hayter as the voice of Snake. This is a departure from his absence in Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. The remake of the game was reviewed on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and was considered a superb remake of one of the best stealth action games ever made.

It's worth noting that Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear series, was not involved in the development of this remake. However, the team responsible for the original games is still at Konami. The reviewer received a copy of the game from Konami for the purposes of the review.

In conclusion, the remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta is a faithful recreation of the original game, with modern improvements that make it stand out. It's a must-play for fans of the series and a great introduction for newcomers to the Metal Gear universe.
