Robbers in a hardware store in Poland use pepper spray multiple times to subdue employees, prompting police intervention and subsequent arrests
On August 22, 2025, a 20-year-old man is under suspicion for multiple thefts at hardware stores in the Middle Franconia region. The first incident occurred at a store in Fürth's Fritz-Gastreich-Straße, where the suspect took an item without paying and attacked a 75-year-old employee with pepper spray.
Later that day, the suspect returned to an Erlangen store and stole items from the sanitary department. The suspect was observed on video surveillance taking items without paying and engaging in a physical altercation with an employee. The Erlangen-Stadt police took the suspect into custody at the scene.
However, the suspect fled the scene in Fürth and could not be found during an initial search. The suspect targeted another hardware store in Erlangen's Neumühle the next day, August 23. Other employees and customers were needed to restrain the suspect at the Erlangen store.
During the search of the suspect's vehicle, officers found more suspected stolen goods, including those stolen from the hardware stores in Fürth and Erlangen on August 22 and 23, 2025.
The public prosecutor's office has requested for the 20-year-old to be held in custody. At the time of writing, there are no available search results that report the arrest of a 20-year-old person suspected of multiple burglaries in hardware stores in the region between August 22 and 23, 2025.
