Romania's academic year for 2025-2026 commences in September, consisting of 5 separate teaching segments, with 5 scheduled breaks.
The upcoming school year in Romania is set to begin on Monday, September 8, 2025, and conclude on Friday, June 19, 2026. However, the start of the academic year is shrouded in controversy due to governmental cost-cutting measures.
Opponents of the announced cost reduction program in public administration for the 2025-2026 school year include teacher unions, educational staff associations, and certain political parties advocating for better funding and resources in education. They argue that these austerity measures undermine teachers' working conditions and the quality of education.

The final results will be posted on July 13, 2026, after viewing of written works and submission of appeals on July 8-9, 2026.
Trade unions in education have announced a boycott of the beginning of the school year, with Marius Nistor, the president of the Spiru Haret Federation, stating that there is no question of a general strike, but only of a boycott on September 8.
