Roommate discloses Bryan Kohberger's supposed final words to victim before killings, as revealed in fresh bodycam footage concerning Idaho case
In a chilling revelation, newly released bodycam footage has shed light on the horrific events that unfolded on the night of the University of Idaho murders. The footage, which features a survivor whose face is blurred out, provides a haunting account of what transpired before the tragic deaths of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin on November 13, 2022.
The footage, obtained just days after the release of 550 newly released documents related to the case, shows a man dressed in black with a mask covering his forehead and mouth. This man, later confirmed to be Bryan Kohberger, was the perpetrator of the heinous crime.
The events leading up to the murders began when cops were called to the property just before noon. Kohberger had broken into the house and made his way to the third floor, where he brutally murdered Goncalves and Mogen. It was Kernodle, who was eating in the second-floor kitchen, who likely heard the disturbance above and went towards Mogenβs bedroom.
Kernodle's presence seemed to disturb Kohberger, causing him to flee the property. As he tried to escape, he encountered one of the roommates on the second floor, but ignored her. However, when Kernodle ran into him, he killed her and her boyfriend moments later.
The survivor, who has been identified as Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke, found it "really confusing" that the man made no move towards her despite running into the killer. Kernodle sustained over 50 stab wounds in the struggle, while Chapin was also murdered by Kohberger.
The new footage also reveals the chilling last words Kohberger spoke to one of the victims before killing her. According to the survivor, Kohberger told Kernodle, "It's okay, I'm here to help you." However, it was later believed that Kohberger was trying to reassure Kernodle, saying "It's okay, I'm here to help you."
Investigators believe that Kernodle's presence disturbed the attack and caused Kohberger to leave behind the knife sheath with his DNA on it, leading to his arrest. Kohberger pleaded guilty to the murders on June 30 and was sentenced to four life terms without the possibility of parole.
Mortensen and Funke, the only survivors of the horror attack, locked themselves away in Funke's room and fell asleep unaware of the murders that had taken place. The voice of the man in the bodycam footage was unusual in tone, adding to the eerie atmosphere of the events that unfolded that fateful night.
The bloody scenes were discovered on the second and third floors of the house much later in the morning. The actor who published the documents of the case files, including his preferred film performance, is not directly identified in the available search results. The case continues to be a topic of intense interest and discussion, as the community grapples with the aftermath of the tragic events.
