Russia-China alliance reaches an unparalleled height according to Putin's declaration to Xi

Russian President Vladimir Putin is currently in Beijing for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, marking a significant moment in the deepening relationship between the two nations.

During the discussions, Putin mentioned cooperation between Russia and China during the ongoing war, while Xi stated that China-Russia relations have continued to deepen political mutual trust and strategic cooperation. This comes after Xi held a series of diplomatic meetings this week, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in the northern city of Tianjin.

The talks are ahead of a massive military parade in China's capital, where world leaders, including North Korea's Kim Jong Un, are gathering. The parade marks 80 years since the end of World War II.

In a show of their close ties, Putin and Xi declared a "no limits partnership" before Putin ordered Russia's Ukraine offensive in February 2022. Since then, the expanded military and trade ties between China and Russia have troubled the West, with many of Ukraine's allies believing that China has provided support to Moscow.

However, China has never denounced Russia's war nor called for it to withdraw its troops. Instead, China insists it is a neutral party and regularly calls for an end to the fighting while also accusing Western countries of prolonging the conflict by arming Ukraine.

During the SCO summit, China and Russia criticized Western governments. Xi Jinping, the Chinese president, slammed "bullying behavior" from certain countries, a veiled reference to the United States. This comes after Xi visited Moscow in May for Russia's May 9 celebrations of the World War II defeat of the Nazis, and a phone call between Xi Jinping and Putin last month, in which Xi expressed satisfaction with the improved relations between Moscow and Washington.

The deepening ties between Russia and China are a significant geopolitical development, particularly in light of the ongoing global tensions. As the world watches, the relationship between these two major powers continues to evolve.
