Russian Government Extends Gasoline Export Ban Until October 2025

The Russian government has extended its ban on gasoline exports, initially set to end on August 31, 2025. The decision, announced on August 27, 2025, applies to the period from September 1 to October 31, 2025.

The move comes in response to record price increases on the St. Petersburg International Commodity Exchange and rising fuel prices at gas stations. The government aims to maintain a stable situation on the domestic fuel market with this extension.

The ban affects all fuel producers, not just traders. Companies that are not fuel producers, such as those in the oil industry, have had their export ban extended to October 31, 2025. The details of the adjustment for the fuel dempfer for August, if any, have not been specified in the current report.

Oil companies that received an adjustment to the fuel dampener set by the Russian government for August include Rosneft, Lukoil, Surgutneftegas, Gazprom Neft, and Tatneft. It was previously reported that oil companies will only receive a fuel dempfer for August if it is adjusted.

The Russian government has not specified a new end date for the gasoline export ban beyond October 31, 2025. The current report does not provide any information about the response of the St. Petersburg International Commodity Exchange to the extended gasoline export ban or the impact of the extension on fuel prices at gas stations.

The previous gasoline export ban was imposed in February 2025 and was in effect from March 1 to August 31. The Russian government extended the ban for all exporters from September 1 to an unspecified date beyond September 30, 2025. The decision was reported by RIA Novosti.

This extension of the gasoline export ban is part of the Russian government's efforts to control fuel prices and ensure stability in the domestic market. As the situation develops, more information is expected to be released.
