Russia, under the leadership of Putin, is deepening its collaborative efforts with China within the BRICS grouping, aiming to enhance the bloc's influence and role in global affairs.

"Russia supports a more influential position for BRICS in collaboration with China, according to Putin's statement."

Russian President Vladimir Putin is currently participating in the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of State Council summit in Tianjin, China. During the summit, Putin emphasised the importance of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) in global affairs.

Putin welcomed the inclusion of the African Union in the G20 framework, calling it a step towards "deepening synergies" between BRICS and other global groupings. He also praised China's role within the G20, noting that together with like-minded nations, they have contributed to shifting the group's agenda to reflect the priorities of the Global South.

Putin is working closely with China within BRICS to expand its role and advance initiatives aimed at creating common platforms for partnership in strategic sectors. He advocates for equal and non-discriminatory access to financial tools for all countries and supports reforming the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank to create a new financial system based on openness and true equity.

The countries involved in the reform of the IMF and the World Bank, supported by Russia and China, are primarily the BRICS nations. They advocate for a new financial architecture based on openness, true equality, and equal access for all countries without discrimination.

Putin is also taking a common stand against discriminatory sanctions that hinder the socioeconomic development of BRICS member states and the world at large. He did not mention any specific plans for bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the current paragraph, but it is expected that he will hold such talks on the sidelines of the SCO summit.

In addition, Putin is advocating for the transformation of BRICS into a "key pillar of global architecture". He is united with China in strengthening BRICS' ability to address pressing global challenges and criticizes the use of finance as a tool of neo-colonialism. Putin is emphasizing the deepening cooperation between Russia and China within multilateral platforms, but did not repeat his earlier stance on this topic in the current paragraph.
