Russian airstrikes result in the death of four individuals, as reported by Selensky.
In a series of escalating attacks, Russian air strikes hit various locations in Ukraine overnight, causing widespread damage and casualties. The high-rise in Odessa and warehouses in Kryvyi Rih, the birthplace of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, were among the targets.
According to reports, more than 800 combat drones, cruise missiles, and rockets were launched by Russia, with the attacks also causing damage in the border regions of Sumy and Chernihiv. The Ukrainian government, which has been defending against a Russian invasion for over three and a half years, reported that a government building was hit for the first time during these air strikes.
The attacks resulted in numerous injuries and fatalities. Dozens of people were injured in Kyiv alone, and tragically, a mother and her three-month-old son were killed in the city. In Zaporizhzhia, more than 20 houses and a kindergarten were damaged.
Zelensky, in a call for global action, criticised the US for not imposing sanctions following a refusal to negotiate. He urged the world to stop the Russian killings with political will. The Ukrainian President also reported that four people have been killed in the air strikes overnight.
Julia Svyrydenko, the Ukrainian Prime Minister, also reported the attacks, expressing concern over the escalating violence. The Russian air strikes also occurred in other cities, including Kryvyi Rih, Odessa, and Zaporizhzhia, but specific details about casualties or damage in these cities were not provided.
As the war in Ukraine continues, the international community is urged to take action to help bring an end to the violence and protect innocent civilians.
