Eastern Poland Drone Crash Sparks Warsaw's Allegations of Russian 'Provocative' Actions - Russian instigation discussed in Warsaw

In an unexpected incident, a military drone reportedly crashed into a cornfield in the town of Osiny, Lubelskie Voivodeship, which borders Ukraine and Belarus to the east. The incident occurred overnight on Wednesday, as reported by the police.

The exact origin of the drone is currently unknown, but it is suspected to be a version of the Russian Geran-2 drone, often used for decoy purposes during Russia's air strikes on Ukraine. However, the Polish military authorities have yet to confirm this.

The Prosecutor's Office, in a statement, declared that the object found in the field is "most likely" a military drone. The crash resulted in no casualties, but windows in nearby buildings were damaged.

This incident comes after a Russian missile briefly entered the airspace of NATO member Poland in November 2022, causing international concern. Another notable incident occurred in the same month, when two people were killed in Poland near the Ukrainian border, after a Ukrainian air defense missile crashed. This event took place while Russia was bombing several cities across Ukraine.

Interestingly, the army reported that there was no violation of Polish airspace overnight on Wednesday. This suggests that the drone may have entered Polish territory without authorisation.

The origin of the drone object found in Osiny is currently under investigation. No further details about the drone or its purpose have been disclosed at this time. The Polish media are closely following the developments and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
