Samsung Infuses Microsoft AI Copilot into Upgraded Smart TVs and Displays
Samsung has announced that it will be integrating Microsoft's Copilot AI into its range of Smart TVs and monitors, starting this year. The integration aims to make AI assistance in Smart TVs more contextually relevant and offer an "interactive learning experience."
The new AI assistant will be available on various Samsung TV models, including Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, and The Frame series, as well as the Smart Monitors M7, M8, and M9. In Germany, Microsoft Copilot is already available on Samsung Smart TVs.
Copilot can be invoked by voice command or via the remote control. It is designed to provide personalized recommendations, help explain complex concepts, and offer support in learning foreign languages. Users can also make plans with Copilot on the Smart TV, although it is unclear if this is limited to TV viewing.
One unique feature of Copilot is its ability to identify athletes in sports broadcasts. It can also summarize actions and provide information about the current program via voice commands. Copilot on Samsung Smart TVs feels like an AI companion in your living room, according to David Washington, leading manager of Microsoft AI.
Samsung's own voice assistant, Bixby, will still be present in modern devices, but it is unclear which individual TV devices will receive Microsoft's Copilot. It is also unclear whether the topics for Copilot will be limited to the TV program or if users can ask the TV about other things.
Samsung mentions that availability is market-dependent but will be expanded regionally in the future. More TV and monitor models are expected to be added in the future, but it is currently unclear if Copilot will also be available in Germany on Samsung's Smart TV.
The integration of Microsoft's Copilot AI into Samsung's Smart TVs and monitors is expected to make the user experience more interactive and personalized, providing a new level of convenience and entertainment.
