In the main event of UFC on ESPN 50, Cory Sandhagen (No.4, 17-4) secured a unanimous decision victory over Rob Font (No.7, 20-7) in a lightweight division matchup. The fight took place at a catchweight of 140 pounds due to Font stepping in on short notice.

Sandhagen, who attributed his lackluster performance to a triceps injury sustained in the first round, successfully executed all 7 of his takedown attempts and maintained dominant control on the ground. The judges scored the fight 50-45, 50-45, and 50-45 in favour of Sandhagen.

In the co-main event, Tatiana Suarez (USA, 12-0) submitted former UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade (Brazil, 24-12) via rear-naked choke in the second round. This was a highly anticipated matchup, and Suarez demonstrated her superiority in the bout.

The preliminary fights were not short of excitement either. Alsu Almabayev (Kazakhstan, 18-2), making his UFC debut, submitted Odie Osborne (USA, 10-7) via rear-naked choke in the second round. This victory marked a successful start for Almabayev in the UFC. In another preliminary fight, Kayler Phillips (USA, 13-4) won by unanimous decision over Raoni Barcelos (Brazil, 17-6) in the Bantamweight division.

The main card also featured several other fights, but the details are not provided in this article.

Carlston Harris (Guyana, 18-5) forced Jeremiah Wells (USA, 11-4) to tap out in the 3rd round with an 'Anaconda Choke'.

Performance of the Night bonuses went to Tatiana Suarez, Dustin Jacoby, Diego Lopez, Carlston Harris, and Alsu Almabayev. UFC President Dana White left his seat midway through the fight and did not return.

Overall, UFC on ESPN 50 was a night filled with exciting fights and memorable performances. Sandhagen's dominant victory over Font was the highlight of the night, but the performances of Suarez, Jacoby, Lopez, Harris, and Almabayev were also noteworthy. Sandhagen expressed his desire to fight for the title against the winner of the Sterling vs. O'Malley bout, scheduled for UFC 292 on August 19th.
