Sandler Connects with Two Promising Young Miami Heat Players at Training Venue
Adam Sandler, the award-winning actor and comedian, has made a triumphant return to the world of golf and basketball in a double whammy of sporting entertainment.
Sandler, best known for his role as the unconventional golfer Happy Gilmore, has stepped back into the shoes of his beloved character for the long-awaited sequel, 'Happy Gilmore 2'. Released on Netflix on July 25, 2025, the film sees Gilmore come out of retirement to finance his daughter's dreams. In addition to playing the leading role, Sandler co-wrote and co-produced the movie.
Joining Sandler in the 'Happy Gilmore' franchise's latest instalment are newcomers Benny Safdie and Bad Bunny, credited as Benito Antonio MartΓnez Ocasio.
But Sandler's love for sports hasn't stopped at the golf course. Recently, he visited the NBA's Miami Heat, where he linked up with young stars Kel'el Ware and Jaime Jacquez Jr. The pictures posted on the Heat's social media show the trio engaged in a basketball practice session, with the caption hinting at a potential mixtape from the pickup game.
Ware, the Heat's 15th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, and Jacquez Jr., the Heat's 18th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, are both heading into their second and third seasons with the team, respectively.
Sandler's career in sports-themed films isn't new. In the late 1990s, he made a significant impact with roles in 'Happy Gilmore', 'The Waterboy', 'The Wedding Singer', 'Big Daddy', and more. His career continued to rise in the early 2000s with movies like 'Mr. Deeds', 'Anger Management', '50 First Dates', 'The Longest Yard', and 'Click'.
In the 2010s, Sandler led the 'Grown Ups' and 'Hotel Transylvania' franchises. Some of his dramatic roles, such as 'Punch-Drunk Love', 'Uncut Gems', and 'Hustle', have also received critical acclaim.
Sandler's stint on Saturday Night Live (SNL) began in 1990 and ended in 1995, marking the start of his journey to Hollywood fame.
In 'Happy Gilmore 2', Sandler is joined by Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, and Ben Stiller, who reprised their roles from the original movie.
With Sandler's return as a producer, co-writer, and star, 'Happy Gilmore 2' promises a hilarious and heartwarming journey that sports fans won't want to miss.
