SAP, the German multinational software corporation, has announced plans to acquire talent acquisition software provider SmartRecruiters. This acquisition is set to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2025, as per the recent announcement.

The strategic move aims to integrate SmartRecruiters' AI-powered, cloud-based talent acquisition tools into SAP's SuccessFactors Human Capital Management (HCM) Suite. This integration is expected to streamline the experience for recruiters, hiring managers, and candidates, addressing the complexities of talent acquisition in the post-pandemic landscape.

Muhammad Alam, Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, Products and Engineering, emphasised the importance of hiring the right people, stating, "Hiring the right people is a business priority, not just an HR priority."

The acquisition will modernize SAP's existing HCM platform, allowing SAP's customers to attract and hire the best talent with speed and agility, while lowering their total cost of ownership. The integrated system is designed to manage the entire candidate life cycle, from sourcing and interviewing to onboarding and beyond, all in a single system.

The 2026 AI Agent & Copilot Summit, an AI-first event, is scheduled for March 17-19 in San Diego. This event, following the success of the 2025 event, focuses on defining opportunities, impact, and outcomes with Microsoft Copilot and agents. It is expected that the integration of SmartRecruiters' AI-powered tools will be showcased at this event.

The issues addressed by the acquisition have taken many years to develop but are now highly relevant. The acquisition positions SAP strongly in the unique, bespoke market of talent acquisition, providing a significant competitive advantage.
