School and kindergarten renovation takes place across the city during summer vacation
Greifswald Schools Undergo Renovations for Safety and Modernization
Greifswald, a city in northern Germany, is investing significantly in the renovation and modernization of its schools. The focus is on improving safety and learning conditions, with a budget freeze prioritizing essential projects.
One of the schools undergoing a comprehensive renovation is the Jahn-Gymnasium. The project, costing nearly one million euros, has seen the creation of a new chemistry department, equipped with modern laboratories, roof supply systems, mobile water basins, and a new ventilation system. The former music room in the old building next to the auditorium was modernized, and a new fire protection and acoustic ceiling was installed.
The renovation has significantly improved learning conditions and enhanced safety in the historic school building. Additionally, several corridor doors were renewed in accordance with fire safety regulations. The library was moved, and a new office was established for the school social worker. Notably, the preparation room for physics on the ground floor was also renovated.
Fire safety improvements are also being implemented at the Humboldt-Gymnasium, with obstruction closers being installed. The city is also repairing and improving ventilation systems at the Kaethe-Kollwitz-Grundschule.
Elsewhere, floor coverings are being renewed, and playground equipment safety is being improved at the Greif-Grundschule. A new fence is being erected at the Erich-Weinert-Schule next to the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Gymnasium.
In the realm of kindergartens, renovations are underway with a total investment of around 110,000 euros this summer. However, no renovations in sanitary areas were mentioned for the Jahn-Gymnasium in this paragraph.
Safety is a top priority, and emergency exit lights are being repaired at the Caspar-David-Friedrich-Schule. The city is also working on creating an additional classroom at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Schule by converting existing spaces.
The total investment in municipal schools this summer is around 120,000 euros. While the school in Greifswald that began creating a new chemistry area this year is not explicitly named, it is clear that the city is committed to enhancing the educational environment and ensuring safety for its students.
