School year commences at ISB marked by leading International Baccalaureate results in Romania, recognition for character education, and the reintroduction of A-Levels.
The International School of Bucharest (ISB) Celebrates Exceptional IB Exam Results
The International School of Bucharest (ISB) is basking in the glory of its Class of 2025, who have achieved a remarkable 100% subject pass rate in the International Baccalaureate (IB) exams. This stellar performance surpasses the global average of 81.26%, setting a high benchmark for educational excellence.
Located in Romania's capital city, ISB is an esteemed institution authorised to deliver the IB Diploma Programme, Cambridge IGCSE, and A-Level examinations. The school's commitment to academic rigour and holistic development is further underscored by its recent award from Character.org, recognising four years of embedding the school's HERO values - Honesty, Empathy, Respect, and Open-mindedness - across all areas of school life.
In a strategic move, ISB is reintroducing Cambridge International A-Levels alongside the IB Diploma Programme for its Sixth Form students. This dual pathway approach reflects the school's mission to provide a broad, balanced, and personalised education. The reintroduction of A-Levels has been announced by Mr. Dominic Morley, Executive Principal and CEO of ISB.
The Class of 2025's success extends beyond the pass rate, with six students scoring 40 or more points in IB exams, and seventeen students scoring 35 or more. The average diploma score for the class was 33.2 points, higher than the global mean of 30.58. One student, Teodora Gandore, even achieved a perfect score of 45 points, a feat that makes her the only student in Romania, and among just over 200 worldwide, to have accomplished this remarkable feat.
ISB's dedication to academic excellence is matched by its focus on nurturing well-rounded students. The school is strengthening student leadership, well-being, and global citizenship. It is also expanding opportunities for inquiry, creativity, and problem-solving. To further enhance learning experiences, ISB is implementing the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework.
As a not-for-profit school serving students aged 2-19, ISB is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and COBIS. The school is also preparing for its CIS 5-Year Accreditation Review in 2025/2026.
With over 14 years of proven success with A-Level examinations, ISB is committed to ensuring seamless progression from Early Years through Sixth Form. The school's exceptional performance in the IB exams is a testament to its relentless pursuit of academic excellence and holistic development.
