schoolshootings occurred in a total number of 205 instances
In a recent crackdown on traffic violations, the city's traffic enforcement officers have registered a total of 1,531 parking violations near schools. This includes instances where vehicles were parked in no-parking zones, obstructing the view of children crossing the street, and repeated cases of parents dropping off their children in such zones, creating a potential danger for other children.
The radar cars, deployed for speed control, checked a total of 47,016 vehicles during the controls. The results showed that many drivers were speeding, particularly in 30 km/h zones and on main roads near schools. As a result, a total of 1,184 warning fines were issued, along with 21 fines that included two driving bans.
The highest speeding violation recorded was on the Hellweg, where a driver was caught speeding at 107 km/h, far exceeding the 50 km/h limit. This driver now faces a fine of 280 euros, a two-month driving ban, and two points in the traffic register.
Christian Zaum, the head of the public order office, emphasised that speeding near schools is not a minor offense. He also stated that thoughtless pedestrians and cyclists who parked on sidewalks and roads were issued warnings. Drivers who parked too close to intersections and entrances, violating the five-meter rule, were also warned.
Notably, the search results do not provide names of individuals who were warned by police officers for parking violations near schools. There is no specific information about affected persons or warnings related to parking bans near schools in the available sources.
In addition, the tow truck had to be called out 31 times due to parking violations. The controls will continue, according to Christian Zaum, with the aim of ensuring the safety of children in school zones.
