Second Year of FOS Police Operations underway
In a recent ceremony, the second cohort of graduates from the FOS Police program in Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, celebrated the successful completion of their two-year dual study program. The event was attended by Principal Gorden Skorzik of the vocational college on Königstraße, who presented the certificates, and Police President Tim Frommeyer, who congratulated the graduates.
To be eligible for the FOS Police program, candidates must possess a lower secondary school leaving certificate (intermediate school certificate) or the qualification to attend the upper secondary school. The program does not specify any additional requirements beyond a successful Fachabitur and FOS Police qualification.
The educational program, which is offered at numerous vocational colleges in North Rhine-Westphalia, equips graduates with the Fachabitur in Business and Administration with a focus on Police Service. This qualification allows them to bypass another selection process for police service and, upon a successful FOS Police qualification, guarantees a study place for direct entry into dual police studies.
The dual police studies offer an optional focus on "Investigations". Graduates who choose this path will gain specialized knowledge and skills in this area. The program starts in September, and the first coordinator of the second finishing class of the FOS-Polizei NRW starting in September is yet to be announced.
The graduates in question are now prepared to begin their dual police studies, with the opportunity to directly start their studies after receiving a successful Fachabitur. The location of the program and the dual police studies is not specified, but the graduates will continue their studies at a vocational college in North Rhine-Westphalia.
No new dates have been announced for the next cohort of the FOS Police program, but those interested in pursuing a career in the police service are encouraged to keep an eye on the program's offerings. The FOS Police program provides a unique opportunity for individuals to combine theoretical and practical learning, making them well-prepared for a career in the police service.
