Senior cycling program debuts victoriously in Borken County; future events yet to be announced
The Circular Police Department Borken has initiated a new senior cycling concept aimed at enhancing road safety and prevention. The concept, launched today, focuses on combining the joy of cycling with practical tips for accident prevention.
Dr. Kai Zwicker, District Administrator and patron of the action, welcomed the participants at the inaugural event held in Gronau, which was attended by twelve seniors and police officers. The event marked the beginning of a series of senior cycling events that will occur regularly in the future.
The senior cycling events are part of the district's and police's prevention work. The organisers, from the Traffic Division of the Circular Police Department Borken, provided tips on behaviour at intersections and roundabouts, the correct use of cycle paths, and the importance of helmets, lights, and roadworthy equipment.
The number of participants is limited to a maximum of twelve people, and the route guidance is based on current accident hotspots in the district. By jointly practicing typical dangerous situations, the knowledge remains better anchored in everyday life.
The dates for senior cycling events in the year 2025 will be announced soon, and those for 2026 will be published at the beginning of the coming year.
