Starting from August 28, Arunachal Pradesh will experience heavy rainfall for three days. Himachal Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir will also see heavy rainfall for the next week. The ongoing monsoon activity is expected to bring much-needed rainfall to these regions, helping replenish water reserves and aiding agricultural activities.
On August 28, moderate to heavy rainfall with isolated very heavy spells is forecasted for Chhattisgarh, while heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted for Konkan & Goa. Isolated very heavy rainfall is expected in Odisha on the same day.
From August 28-29, Uttarakhand will experience very heavy rainfall, and on September 1-2, the region will see more heavy rainfall.
Heavy rainfall is also forecasted for Kerala, AP, Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema & Coastal Karnataka from August 28-September 2. The upper catchment areas of the Mahanadi River in Chhattisgarh are also expected to receive heavy rainfall during this period.
Delhi-NCR will have generally cloudy skies with spells of light rain or thundershowers, accompanied by lower-than-normal temperatures for the next four days.
The IMD has issued fresh warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of India. Madhya Pradesh & Vidarbha, Bihar & Jharkhand will experience heavy rainfall from August 28-30 and August 29 - September 1, respectively. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will experience heavy rainfall throughout the week.
Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, and the Gujarat region for the next seven days. Very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is predicted for Coastal Karnataka on August 28, and extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Telangana on the same day.
The IMD has urged people in areas with heavy rainfall warnings to remain vigilant and follow local advisories to mitigate risks of waterlogging, flash floods, and landslides.
A low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal is expected to bring significant rainfall over the coming week, and the IMD expects heavy rainfall mainly in the northwestern region, including Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, which have already seen surplus rainfall and face risks of landslides and floods.
A weather update on August 27 mentions heavy rainfall alerts in Jammu, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Telangana, while light showers are expected in Delhi-NCR.
