Severe vehicle collision on highway 44 in Dortmund leaves one individual wounded
On August 29, 2025, a significant traffic incident occurred on the A44 motorway, heading towards Dortmund. The accident, which took place at approximately 3:19 PM, involved a silo truck and a motorhome.
The motorhome veered off the road, flipped over, and came to rest in a ditch. The driver of the silo truck from Gelsenkirchen also struck the guardrail after the collision. However, fortunately, the driver remained uninjured.
The driver of the motorhome, a 59-year-old individual from Dassel, sustained serious injuries. The two dogs in the motorhome were rescued by the fire department and taken to an animal shelter. The condition of the driver and any other passengers was not provided.
The accident occurred between the exit Lichtenau Westfalen and the Wünnenberg junction in Bielefeld. The A44 motorway in the direction of Dortmund was completely closed for the duration of the accident investigation and recovery operations until 8:17 PM. A detour was set up to manage the traffic flow.
