In a surprising turn of events, the long-awaited revival of Sex and the City, titled And Just Like That, seems to have rediscovered its original charm-only to be abruptly terminated.

Sex and the City sequel regains classic feel, only to receive cancellation notice

Michael Patrick King, the showrunner of "And Just Like That", has announced the cancellation of the spinoff series on his social media accounts. The final episode of this beloved sequel to the iconic Sex and the City will air on Thursday, August 14, at 9pm Eastern, on HBO Max.

Across three seasons, "And Just Like That" failed to live up to the original Sex and the City, lacking its cheeky wit, substantial heart, and insightful social commentary. However, the final season may provide a moment of familiarity for longtime fans of the original series.

The lead trio, Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes, and Kristin Davis as Charlotte York, reprised their roles, with John Corbett, Evan Handler, David Eigenberg, Mario Cantone, and New York City also part of the cast.

Carrie's emotional dissolution of her relationship with Aidan felt classic, as did her sweet rebound with fellow writer Duncan Reeves. The focus in the third season has been rightfully recentered on Carrie's own romantic entanglements and close friendships.

The original series order for the final season was extended from 10 episodes to 12. The director of the last season, as well as the showrunner and producer, is Michael Patrick King.

The final episode of "And Just Like That" will mark the end of the spinoff series. Viewers can tune into the last episode this Thursday to bid farewell to Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York, and Miranda Hobbes. The official promo of the series finale is available for viewing.

In the end, Carrie joined her girlfriends for some commiseration cocktails, reaffirming that the women she surrounded herself with were the true loves of her life. Kim Cattrall's character, Samantha Jones, only appeared in one cameo.

As we say goodbye to "And Just Like That", we can't help but reminisce about the original series and the impact it had on popular culture. The final episode will be a bittersweet farewell to the characters we have grown to love and the city we have grown to adore.
