Shares of Rheinmetall, Renk, and Hensoldt rebound after absorbing a shock, remaining on an upward trajectory
In the ever-changing world of defense stocks, three major German players - Rheinmetall, Hensoldt, and Renk - have been experiencing significant shifts.
Analyst Charles Armitage, in a recent report, downgraded his sell recommendations for MDAX-listed companies Hensoldt and Renk, citing a correction in his previous assessments. Armitage, who holds direct shares in Rheinmetall, no longer finds Hensoldt and Renk stocks to be overvalued.
Rheinmetall, the sector favourite, has managed to maintain its strong position despite seasonal headwinds, weak results, and ongoing peace efforts in Ukraine. The company has lost only 5% of its value since late June, demonstrating resilience in challenging times.
Armitage's new price targets for Hensoldt are β¬88 and for Renk are β¬61. However, both Hensoldt and Renk stocks are expected to remain volatile and news-driven, reflecting the high volatility that currently characterises the defense sector.
Meanwhile, DER AKTIONΓR expects the stock prices of these defense stocks, including Rheinmetall, to pick up again by the start of the fourth quarter. The consolidation in the sector could continue, with analysts predicting an average annual growth rate of 27% for Hensoldt and Renk.
The volatility of defense stocks, including Rheinmetall (WKN: 703000), is currently very high. Armitage downgraded his recommendations for Hensoldt and Renk due to this correction, but he also highlights significant growth potential for these companies.
Despite these fluctuations, Rheinmetall remains the sector favourite, given its strong portfolio and particularly full order books. The company has shown intraday fluctuations in recent weeks, but its robust position in the market remains unchanged.
In a separate development, Armitage also changed his ratings for Hensoldt and Renk from 'Sell' to 'Neutral'. This change indicates a more cautious but optimistic outlook for these companies, reflecting the dynamic nature of the defense sector.
It is essential for investors to stay informed and adapt their strategies accordingly in this volatile market. As always, seeking advice from a financial advisor is recommended before making any investment decisions.
