In the peaceful town of Pico Rivera, California, residents are on edge following a series of tragic events. On August 21 and August 23, 2025, two seemingly unrelated shootings took place at Shell and 76 gas stations, claiming the lives of two young boys and one adult.
The first shooting occurred on August 21, at a gas station on Whittier Boulevard, where 13-year-old Saith Toledo Mendez was fatally shot. A man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was also killed in the same incident at a Shell station near Washington and Passons Boulevards.
Exactly two days later, on August 23, another tragedy struck at a different gas station in Pico Rivera, claiming the life of another 13-year-old boy, Saith Mendez. Marc Sweet, a 36-year-old man, was the victim in this heartbreaking incident.
Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department are reviewing surveillance footage and searching for suspects in both cases. However, no arrests have been made, and investigators have not linked the two incidents.
Mayor John Garcia of Pico Rivera has expressed his condolences and promised to ensure the safety of residents, urging anyone with information to contact the Sheriff's Department. The community is shaken and demanding answers.

Amidst these unfortunate events, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is also seeking public assistance in locating a missing juvenile named Tyler James Wilson, last seen in Pico Rivera more than two weeks ago.
