Shopify's Summer Updates for 2025: What Are the Latest Developments?

Shopify has announced the release of its Summer '25 Edition, a significant update aimed at improving the user experience for both merchants and customers.

One of the key features of this update is the streamlined editor, designed to make building and managing pages more intuitive, especially for complex sites. The editor now includes a relevant sidebar, custom names for blocks and sections, hover-to-preview, richer product cards, and quick block and section copy-paste.

The speed of Shopify's admin panel has also been boosted, loading up to 30% faster. This improvement aims to enhance the overall efficiency of managing stores on the platform.

Another noteworthy addition is the ability for customers to view and use store credit in the Shop app and during Shop Pay checkout. This feature allows merchants to refund directly to store credit from the admin, and store credit now works with Shop. Store credit can also be displayed in marketing emails and on-site using Liquid.

Shopify has also focused on optimising the checkout process. Customers can now start checking out 2 seconds faster, and shoppers can enter promo codes directly in the cart. Additionally, Shopify now supports offering Apple Pay while maintaining custom checkout flows.

The updated analytics dashboard includes benchmarks and a new Customer Cohort Analysis report. This provides merchants with deeper customer insights and improved sales forecasting tools. New web performance reports are available for optimising Core Web Vitals, further enhancing the user experience.

Shopify Tax now supports automated filing for more channels, including Shop, Facebook, and Instagram. This feature aims to simplify the tax management process for merchants.

A tailored guide is available to enhance post-purchase pages without disrupting the current setup. This guide provides merchants with the tools they need to optimise their post-purchase pages for better conversion rates.

Finally, Shopify has introduced new discount code usage options. Merchants can now use a single discount code across products, orders, and shipping with select discount apps.

The Shopify Summer '25 Edition was released on June 10, 2025, and marks a significant step forward in the platform's commitment to providing merchants and customers with the best possible user experience.
